Coronavirus (COVID-19)

General Overview:

COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. This new or “novel” coronavirus had not previously been detected before the outbreak was reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses found in both animals and humans. Some infect people and are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

Safety is the top priority for the World Waterpark Association and its member facilities. The WWA has been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak to aid members in staying informed on this issue. As this pandemic has spread on a global scale, we've all seen firsthand the impact to our individual way of life, as well as to the travel and tourism industry. If you need to speak to a WWA staff member, please call the WWA main line at +1-913-599-0300. Staff are working remotely, but we are available via email or phone to provide you with assistance as needed.

To hear more from WWA's leadership about COVID-19, read Board of Directors' chair Damien Latham's latest column from the April issue of World Waterpark Magazine.

As this situation is fluid and changing on a daily basis, WWA encourages all members to educate themselves about COVID-19 and how to stay safe from its effects using the resources here. What follows are a collection of resources that we feel are accurate and trustworthy.
