The 2024 Be Water Aware™ Kit will be available soon to download by current WWA member facilities at NO cost. Drowning is the single leading cause of unintended death for children ages 1-4, the second leading cause of unintended death for kids 4-14 and the third for adolescents ages 15-17. And drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional injury death throughout the rest of the world. Let your guests know you put WATER SAFETY FIRST using the tools provided to you at NO cost in the revised WWA Be Water Aware™ Kit. The Be Water Aware™ Kit will help you educate your guests on water safety. The kit includes a variety of recorded Public Service Announcements suitable for radio and in-park announcements featuring messages on how to stay safer in and around the water. The kit also includes two colorful, eye-catching posters designs and more.

Five radio-friendly PSA's feature adult and child voices sharing water safety messages on providing constant adult supervision, swimming with a buddy, learning to swim, looking for lifeguards and following the rules.

Be Water Aware™ PR Guide

To help WWA members take advantage of the positive opportunities presented by the Be Water Aware™ Kit, the World Waterpark Association offers a detailed public-relations "How-to" guide. Available in electronic format, this kit provides tips on generating publicity surrounding water awareness during National Water Safety Month in May, the World's Largest Swimming Lesson in June and the regular season. The Guide also includes ways in which park members can communicate with the media and creative public relations suggestions members can use to promote their efforts.

Specifically, the Be Water Aware PR™ Guide includes:

  • Tips on communicating with the media
  • Hints on creative public relations
  • Steps on how to write a press release
  • Actual press releases members can send to the local media
  • Ideas on developing a media list
  • Advice on distributing a press release
  • Print-ready Public Service Announcements (PSAs) members can send to the local media with related pitch letters
  • Radio PSA scripts you can send to local radio stations
  • Suggestions on developing informational fliers
  • Water-safety tips flier you can distribute to local churches, synagogues, schools and community centers
